Clermont County Quilt Trail
Clermont County is part of Ohio’s Appalachian Country and is the western-most county in this historic geographic region of the United States. Ohio's Appalachian Country encompasses 32 Ohio Counties designated as Appalachian by the Appalachian Regional Commission. The region spans from the outskirts of Cincinnati to the edge of Cleveland, following the mighty Ohio River. Included in this region are some of Ohio's earliest settlements, Ohio's first capital, the largest Amish population in the world, ancient earthwork formations, state parks and lots of great food and art!
In 2017, a Clermont County Quilt Trail committee was formed to discuss and plan for a quilt trail to be developed in our county. Quilting is deeply rooted in Appalachian heritage. Many counties in Ohio’s Appalachian Country offer quilt trails that share the history, art and pride from residents, farm owners and businesses in those counties. As a member of Ohio’s Appalachian Country, Clermont County is going to join that list of scenic quilt trails in the region. One of the goals is to promote and market this new quilt trail to entice visitors, who are interested in Appalachian heritage, to come.
