The Greater Cincinnati Fly Fishing Show promotes the sport of fly fishing in the tri-state area. It is hosted and presented by Buckeye United Fly Fishers (BUFF) since 1989. It has become the largest fly fishing show in the tristate with around 1000 visitors expected this year.
The show will spotlight fly fishing legend Gary Borger presenting seminars on fly fishing and fly tying. Gary, from Vancouver, WA, is one of the world’s foremost fly fishing educators. He has authored 10 best-selling books on casting, fishing techniques and fly tying. He is a frequent contributor to fly fishing publications, and pioneered fly fishing video instruction. Gary was a consultant on Robert Redford’s movie “A River Runs Through It” and a founding member of Fly Fishing International’s fly casting instructor certification program and a member of Trout Unlimited and other conservation organizations.
Other nationally acclaimed presenters appearing at the show:
- Dale Collins, Bryson City, NC
- Mike Schmidt, New Smyrna Beach, FL
- Jason Ricketts, Loveland, Ohio
- Jeff McElravy, Cincinnati, Ohio
- Ted Nicholson, Cincinnati, Ohio
- Shannon Messer, Sylva, NC
The show format features world-class presentations, fly tying demos, and fly casting demos, lots of exhibitors with good things to browse and buy, an indoor casting pond to try out new rods, and lots of good things to see and do for the whole family. Presentations will be given throughout the day.
The show will have over 70 exhibitor booths featuring outfitters, guides, fly rods, fly tying supplies, fly tying tools, kayaks, lodges, conservation booths, books, jewelry and more.
The show offers a great opportunity for everyone from the novice to the experienced fly fisher to learn about fly fishing techniques, resources, gear and places to fly fish. The show has an indoor casting pond to try out a new rod or learn to cast with a casting instructor. The show is family friendly with lots of kids’ activities.
The Cincinnati show has a well-earned reputation as a great stop for our exhibitors (who do a lot of shows) owing to our high show attendance, regional draw of visitors, focus on fly fishing, and our great teams of volunteers who help run the show. We continue to be contacted by prospective new show vendors, who have heard good things about Cincinnati from previous shows.
